I’m Dr. Nelina R. Moffett an independently licensed professional counselor supervisor (LPC-S) practicing in the state of Texas and I’ve been professionally hearing and encouraging people for over a decade. I completed my Master of Arts In Counseling at Dallas Baptist University and a Doctorate in Community Care and Counseling at Liberty University. My experience includes Military Service-members and Military families, Foster Care treatment services, Specialty Drug Court counselor, inpatient mental health treatment and intensive case management services. I also have experience in providing faith-based counseling, integrating clinical interventions with Spiritual and religious beliefs.
For over a decade my career has been focused on helping people once they identify issues and form a resolution. I do not believe in a “cookie-cutter” method for counseling therefore my approach is tailored to individual needs. As people our experiences vary and each individual deserves attention to their unique experience.
As a Counselor, I believe that all people have the potential for good and strive toward significance within their existence. Humans are social creatures that need social connection in relationships to maintain health. I believe that people’s feelings, thoughts, and behaviors are created by how they experience their surroundings. Behavior has a purpose and is goal-directed. I also believe that people have the ability to change their emotions, behaviors, and goals through their choices. I will use a variety of techniques (such as homework assignments, self-exploration, acting, and visualizing) and invite you to establish goals and explore how your behaviors and emotions are working to meet those goals. If you desire a change in your emotions and behaviors, through self-exploration, we can work as a team to meet your treatment related goals.
